Crypto is high risk. You can lose everything you put in. Nothing here is financial advice.

Disclaimer, risk warning and disclosures

Last updated July 2026

1. No financial advice

Everything on cryptotrading.co.nz is general information and education only. Nothing on this site is financial advice, investment advice, tax advice or legal advice, and nothing takes your personal objectives, financial situation or needs into account. We are not a licensed financial advice provider under New Zealand law. Before making any investment decision, do your own research and consider seeking advice from a licensed financial adviser.

2. Risk warning

Cryptocurrency is a speculative, extremely volatile, high-risk asset class. Prices can and do fall dramatically and without warning. Exchanges and platforms can be hacked, freeze withdrawals or fail entirely. Self-custody mistakes are irreversible. There is no New Zealand government guarantee, deposit insurance or dispute scheme covering crypto assets. You can lose everything you put in. Never invest money you cannot afford to lose completely.

Leveraged products such as crypto futures carry substantially higher risk again, including the loss of your entire margin from small market moves. Our spot vs futures guide explains these risks in plain language.

3. Affiliate disclosure

This site is funded by affiliate commissions. Some links on this site, currently links to MEXC, are affiliate links: if you register or trade through them, the platform may pay us a commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate links are marked in context and carry a disclosure near the link. We currently have no affiliate relationship with any other platform mentioned on this site (including Easy Crypto, Independent Reserve, Swyftx and Binance); if that changes, this page and the relevant pages will be updated to say so. Commissions do not determine our ratings, and we publish the disadvantages of our affiliate partners as prominently as their advantages.

4. Regulatory status of platforms we mention

MEXC operates offshore and is not registered with, or regulated by, the New Zealand Financial Markets Authority (FMA), and several overseas regulators have published notices regarding MEXC operating without local authorisation in their jurisdictions. Other platforms mentioned have varying regulatory statuses described on the relevant pages. A mention on this site is not a statement that a platform is regulated, safe or suitable for you. Check any platform's current regulatory standing yourself before using it.

5. Accuracy and currency of information

Fees, features, coin counts, payment methods and regulations change frequently. We update pages on a best-effort basis and date-stamp our main articles, but information may be out of date or contain errors at any time. Always verify current fees, features and terms directly with the relevant platform before acting. If you spot an error, tell us and we will fix it promptly.

6. Tax

Crypto disposals are generally taxable in New Zealand, and record-keeping obligations apply. Comments about tax on this site are general observations only, not tax advice. Consult Inland Revenue's current guidance and a qualified accountant about your own situation.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Coinbench and Balar Media Group accept no liability for any loss or damage, direct or indirect, arising from use of this site, reliance on its content, or use of any third-party platform linked from it. Your use of any exchange or wallet is governed by that provider's terms, and your relationship is with them, not us. Nothing in this disclaimer limits rights you may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or other New Zealand law that cannot be excluded.

8. External links

Links to third-party sites are provided for convenience. We do not control and are not responsible for their content, security or practices.

9. Operator and contact

This site (Coinbench, at cryptotrading.co.nz) is operated by Balar Media Group. Questions about this disclaimer or the site can be sent to info@balarmediagroup.com.au or via our contact page.
